Known for doing different genre films, young hero Bellamkonda Srinivas celebrates his birthday today.
Waiting for the release of Alludu Adhurs and is set to make Bollywood debut with Chatrapathi remake, he shared many things in exclusive interview with greatandhra.com.
Industry is badly hit by lockdown, how did it impact you?
Frankly speaking, I didn’t miss anything other than work. In fact, my love for work was increased after that. I don’t know how, but I became a different person.
Things were different in lockdown, how could you maintain your physique?
I couldn’t really workout in gym, like earlier. I even put on some weight. Once shootings get started, I worked for two months and get back to shape. I used to eat a lot. I felt like going back to my school days, as I could eat delicious food cooked by my mom, after such long time.
You did different photoshoots in lockdown, any particular reason?
I usually don’t like growing hair or beard. During lockdown, I just wanted to try myself something different. I wanted to see myself as a different person. I really liked it. My friends too gave me positive feedback on my new look. Then, I thought of going for a photoshoot. So, I tried different looks like vintage etc.
Did you do Alludu Adhurs to become close to family audience?
Yes, of course. But, that’s not the sole reason for doing the project. After Jaya Janaki Nayaka, my approach started changing towards films. As an actor, I wanted to grow and at the same time, I wanted to try something different. Sakshyam, Kavacham and Sita were different subjects. I wanted to do a perfect family entertainer like Alludu Seenu and I was looking for wholesome entertaining scripts. Santhosh Srinivas narrated me the script and I loved it completely. It is a family entertainer with a new point. There’s enough scope for me to perform. What I can say is it’s definitely not a regular commercial film.
The film has many talented actors working for it. How was the atmosphere on sets?
I was lucky to work with Prakash Raj garu for my very first film. I learnt a lot from him. And, he is happy to see improvement in my acting from my first film to now. Sonu Sood is also a great actor. I really felt comfortable working with Nabha Natesh and Anu Emmanuel. You will love the comedy of Vennela Ksihore, Sapthagiri and Satya. I really loved working with all these wonderful actors.
You’re making Bollywood debut with Chatrapathi remake, how did it happen?
I’ve been getting Bollywood offers for long. But, I was looking for an appropriate script. Several directors approached me with bilingual and Pan India concepts. But, I always wanted to do multi-lingual projects with right content. When Pen Studio approached me for Chatrapathi remake, I was like bang-on. It’s honor to do remake of Rajamouli sir’s film.
When will Chatrapathi remake go on sets and what kind of preparation is going on for the film?
It will most probably begin from February. I will start preparing for the role, once I’m done with all the works of Alludu Adhurs.
Why did you rope in a Telugu director for a Hindi film?
We wanted the film to be helmed by a director who can handle commercial films well. We wanted someone from the south to direct the film. We felt VV Vinayak would be best pick. In fact, I share good association with him.
Will you continue doing Pan India films?
I’m not obsessed with this Pan India thing. It depends on script. If I feel the script has universal appeal, then we will go for Pan India or else I’m happy to do in Telugu films alone.
Tell us about Devi Sri Prasad’s music for the film?
Devi Sri Prasad came up with five different tunes for the film. His background score will be another major highlight.
Are you really satisfied doing Alludu Adhurs?
I’m super happy with the output. I’m eagerly waiting for the audience to see the film.
It is known that, Alludu Adhurs will be hitting the screens on January 15th.
