Sankranthi, Summer, and Dasara seasons are crucial for the theatrical business for Telugu films.
Due to COVID-19, ticket rates in Andhra Pradesh, and other factors, Telugu biggies have skipped the Dasara season this year. Biggies are vying for a slot in Sankranthi 2022 and the summer holidays.
The Active Film Producers Guild, which dictates the production-related issues and release dates, is only focusing on films that feature top stars.
The Guild has entered into the scene to pave way for the smooth release of biggies in the coming holiday period.
The Guild is trying to bring a compromise among makers of “Bheemla Nayak”, “Radhe Shyam”, “Acharya”, “Pushpa”, and “Sarkaru Vaari Paata”.
Important dates during festivals and holidays will be allotted to such biggies. What about mid-range movies? The risk factor is more mid-range movies that are made with Rs 40 – 50 crore.
More than big starrers, the mid-range movies need holidays and festival dates to recover their costs. But unfortunately, the Guild doesn’t think about these medium-budgeted flicks.
Nani has two films for release, Sharwanand is readying two, Nithin is shooting for a movie, and other such mid-range movies are hoping to get a better date.
Irrespective of the reviews and word-of-mouth, big movies will get stunning openings. But these medium-budgeted flicks need more support to sustain at the box-office.
So, mid-range heroes and filmmakers are requesting the Guild to think about their films when they allot dates.
