Actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja made headlines today following reports that they have separated after 37 years of marriage.
According to Zoom TV, the couple has been living separately for some time. However, neither Govinda nor Sunita has issued an official statement regarding the divorce rumors.
Reports suggest that "contrasting lifestyle choices" have contributed to their alleged rift. Additionally, a report by Bollywood Now claimed that Govinda's alleged relationship with a Marathi actress played a role in the separation.
In a recent Hindi Rush interview, Sunita Ahuja shared insights about their living situation, explaining that Govinda often stays at their bungalow while she resides in their apartment with their children.
"We have two houses—a bungalow opposite our apartment. I live in the flat with my kids, while he stays at the bungalow because he gets late after meetings and gatherings. He enjoys talking, so he'll gather people and chat for hours, whereas I prefer a quieter space," she said.
Amid ongoing speculation, ETimes quoted a source claiming that Sunita had sent a separation notice a few months ago, but no further action has been taken since.
However, Govinda's manager, Shashi Sinha, dismissed the rumors, stating:
"There have been issues due to statements made by certain family members, but nothing beyond that. Govinda is focused on starting a new film, and various artists have been visiting his office. We are working on resolving things."
In the Hindi Rush interview, Sunita also made lighthearted comments about Govinda’s romantic side, saying:
"I have told him that in my next life, he should not be my husband. He never takes holidays. I love going out with my husband, eating pani-puri on the streets, but he is always busy working. I don't recall a single instance where we went to watch a movie together."
Govinda and Sunita Ahuja married in March 1987, but they only announced their wedding after welcoming their daughter, Tina, in 1988. Their son, Yashvardhan, was born in 1997.
