Godfather Underperforms On Domestic Market

With 'Khaidi No 150', his comeback film, Megastar Chiranjeevi proved that his market and his box office power remained the same.

The film posted big numbers. 'Sye Raa', too, got a stunning opening collection.

But the COVID-19 period has changed the box office forever. Films with strong content or visual spectacles are only drawing big numbers. Stardom is not a big thing these days. 'Acharya' was the example.

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s 'Godfather', a remake of the Malayalam blockbuster, received low numbers on the first day compared to Chiranjeevi’s previous films. It was also released in limited theaters after seeing the result of 'Acharya'.

On the first day, the film collected Rs 13 Cr in Telugu states.

On the second day, the collection is about Rs 7.7 Cr. The hold is impressive.

The team expected big money from the Hindi version. But despite Salman Khan’s presence, the collection remained poor with just Rs 3.5 Cr nett in two days.

Nagarjuna’s “The Ghost” is a washout. The total share for two days is just Rs 3 Cr in Telugu states.

“Swathimuthyam” is receiving positive talk from those who have watched it. But the collections are not much to talk about.
