'GOAT' BO collection day 1: Misses The 50 Cr Mark

The highly anticipated film GOAT (Greatest of All Time) was released in theatres yesterday and has reportedly grossed Rs 43 crore in India.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the science fiction action drama features an ensemble cast including Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Sneha, Laila, Ajmal, Mohan, Jayaram, Parvathi Nair, Vaibhav, and Premji, with music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

The film generated significant buzz, already earning Rs 65 crore through pre-sales and advance bookings. It was expected to gross over Rs 90 crore on its opening day.

However, despite being released on 5000 screens in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, it grossed Rs 43 crore nett in India, according to Sacnilk.

In Tamil Nadu alone, the film collected Rs 38 crore, while the Telugu version made Rs 3 crore and the Hindi version grossed Rs 1.7 crore.

While Vijay's previous film Leo opened at Rs 145 crore worldwide, GOAT made Rs 60 crore globally on its first day, including $1 million from North America.

Despite the mixed reviews, GOAT achieved the highest Tamil opening of the year, surpassing Raayan and Indian 2.
