Free Publicity: Who Is Real 'Thandel'?

Free Publicity: Who Is Real 'Thandel'?

It is a fact that not only the fishermen from D Matsyalesham village in Srikakulam district but also 22 fishermen from nearby villages were trapped in a Pakistani jail a few years ago.

At the time, the then-MP Rammohan Naidu sent a letter to the Union Minister, but no action was taken. During his padayatra, Jagan Mohan Reddy acknowledged the issue and assured help.

After coming to power, Jagan’s government made serious efforts.

Twenty out of the 22 fishermen were released from the Pakistani jail first, followed by the remaining two. Additionally, Rs 5 lakh was provided to each rescued fisherman.

Now, the film Thandel has been made on this story. However, it does not mention the MP’s letter or the efforts of Jagan’s government. That’s a different matter.

Meanwhile, both TDP and YSRCP supporters, along with their media, are engaged in a political battle over who deserves credit. They are spreading narratives on social media. With all this, Thandel is benefiting from free publicity.

The political controversy has sparked curiosity, leading to improved box office collections on the second day.
