Five Recent Films That Crashed Tollywood's Hopes

Five films that were expected to do decent business at the box office but failed miserably are 'Robinhood', 'Laila', 'Mazaka', 'Jack', and 'Dilruba'.

These films completely washed out at the box office, with poor audience turnout causing major losses for distributors.

Considering the previous successes of the heroes or directors involved, distributors invested heavily — only to end up with significant losses.

The only genuine hit that brought profits this year was 'Sankranthiki Vastunnaam', but unfortunately, all the profit earned from it was wiped out by 'Game Changer', since both films were distributed by the same party.

Next is 'Mad2' that came close to breakeven but wasn’t a phenomenal success that left distributors happy.

As for the highly promoted film 'Court', while it was a success, the returns weren’t strong enough to compensate for the losses incurred on other films.

Overall, despite Mad2 breaking even and Court doing fairly well, they weren’t enough to give Tollywood distributors any real relief — especially since the stakes on the other films were much higher and the resulting losses were knockout blows.

Now, distributors are becoming increasingly skeptical about acquiring film rights, as their experience so far this year has ranged from bad to worse.
