"Peddha Kapu 1" was extensively promoted before its release, with the makers displaying utmost confidence in their film. They went so far as to claim that the film's making, story, and performances would be the talk of the film industry.
However, apart from the cinematography, no one expressed their admiration. Right from the beginning, the film failed to impress audiences.
Director Srikanth Addala's career had taken a hit after the colossal failure of Mahesh Babu's "Brahmotsavam," which is still considered a prime example of a bad movie. Despite this setback, Addala returned with "Narappa," a remake of a Tamil hit.
"Peddha Kapu 1" turned out to be an even bigger flop than "Brahmotsavam."
The producer didn't earn a single rupee from the theaters. Fortunately, the producer can absorb the losses as he is financially stable due to his granite and other businesses.
However, the incurred losses will be substantial, and it's unlikely that the non-theatrical revenue will recover even half of the production cost.
