There is a famous dialogue in the film Gang Leader, where Chiranjeevi asks Rao Gopal Rao in the iconic snooker board scene if he is offering him a goonda's job.
To this, Rao Gopal Rao sarcastically replies, "Kaadu, Governor giri... chestaavaa?" (No, it’s a Governor’s job… will you do it?). This dialogue became widely popular among Chiranjeevi’s fans.
Now, how would it look if Chiranjeevi actually became the Governor of a state?
Political circles are buzzing with speculation that the BJP might soon honor him with a Governor post. However, turning this into reality seems unlikely for several reasons.
First and foremost, BJP does not randomly appoint people to prestigious Governor positions. The party typically chooses loyal and long-standing BJP members with an unbroken political track record, such as Bandaru Dattatreya or Tamilisai Soundararajan.
When Uppalapati Krishnam Raju attempted to become the Governor of Tamil Nadu, his appointment was postponed multiple times and ultimately denied because he had deviated from his political allegiance by joining Praja Rajyam Party. Party loyalty is a crucial factor.
In this regard, Chiranjeevi lacks the fundamental eligibility for such a post in BJP’s view. He founded PRP, later merged it with Congress, and is now politically inactive without loyalty to any party. He has no journey with BJP at any time, nor he was associated with RSS.
Given this, the possibility of Chiranjeevi being appointed as a Governor seems highly improbable.
Even if the offer were extended, accepting it would not be a wise decision for Chiranjeevi. No top-tier actor earning a staggering Rs 70 crore per film would leave behind a thriving career to sit in a Governor’s bungalow as a mere spectator of political affairs. Moreover, a Governor cannot act in films, effectively ending his career in the entertainment industry.
All things considered, this speculation appears to have been started as a way to troll Chiranjeevi’s candidacy and suitability for a Governor role. Unfortunately, some of his fans have taken it seriously, assuming their star is truly in line for the position.
