Tollywood producers Dil Raju, TG Vishwa Prasad, KK Radha Mohan and others had denied the media reports that their new movies will not have a theatrical release. They vehemently said they will release their movies in theaters first.
Dil Raju produced “V” starring Nani and Sudheer Babu, Anushka starrer “Nishabdham” produced by Vishwa Prasad, “Orey Bujjiga” produced by Radha Mohan, and Mythri’s “Uppena” was slated to hit the screens in March and the first half of April. Some of these films may now go for direct digital release.
In Tamilnadu, superstar Suirya produced Jyothika-starrer Pon Magal Vandhal is going be released directly on Amazon Prime Video in May.
Although distributors and exhibitors are up in the arms with Suriya, he’s going ahead with the direct digital release.
Now, Telugu film producers have started rethinking their stance on ‘release in theaters only’. This has given confidence to them.
Big films like “V” may still wait for clarity but “Orey Bujjigaa” and other smaller movies are worrying about the market conditions. Even the makers of Anushka's "Nishabdham" will have to take the final call.
These movies will be gearing up for their digital release bypassing theatrical screening. Al they need is a better price for digital rights. Clarity will emerge in the coming weeks.
