Devara: Needs to Become NTR's Biggest Solo Hit to Break Even Globally?

Devara, starring Jr NTR in the lead, is being hailed as Tollywood’s next big pan-India project.

Following the global success of RRR, expectations for Devara are sky-high. With promotions in full swing, buyers have invested heavily in the film's theatrical rights, confident in its potential to succeed.

But how much does the film need to earn to break even at the worldwide box office?

Jr NTR’s popularity skyrocketed after RRR, not just in India but internationally. Given this craze, buyers have paid a substantial amount for the rights.

According to sources, the revised value of Devara’s theatrical rights in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is pegged at a 120 crore share.

In Karnataka, the breakeven target is 15 crore share, while Tamil Nadu and Kerala stand at 6 crores and 0.5 crore, respectively. For the Hindi belt, it’s set at 15 crore share, and overseas, the film will need to earn a 26 crore share to break even.

In total, Devara will need to collect a 183 crore share, which translates to around 366 crores in gross revenue globally to break even. If the content resonates with audiences, this target is within reach. We’ll find out once the film hits theaters on September 27.

For context, Jr NTR's highest solo grosser, Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava (2018), earned 160 crores globally.
