The decision of senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader and former health minister Eatala Rajender to defect to the Bharatiya Janata Party has caused more heartburn to the Congress party in Telangana.
Senior Congress leader and former MP V Hanumantha Rao said it was unfortunate that a strong leader like Rajender had decided to join the BJP, instead of the Congress party, which has bright chances of coming to power in the state.
“A backward class leader like Rajender should introspect as to why he has chosen to join the BJP rather than the Congress where he will have more respect and recognition in the Congress,” Hanumanth Rao said.
Another senior leader and AICC spokesman Dasoju Sravan said Rajender might be compelled to join the BJP only to protect himself from the TRS wolves.
“He was under pressure from the TRS government, which is hounding him with police and revenue officials,” Sravan said.
He alleged that KCR had implicated Rajender and his family members in false cases only to prove his supremacy in the party.
“While leaders like Rajender who struggled a lot during the Telangana movement faced humiliations, those who attacked Telangana agitators have become ministers,” the Congress leader said.
