For the last few days, the Telugu film industry has been terribly worried over the stalemate on cinema ticket prices in theatres in Andhra Pradesh, as the Jagan Mohan Reddy government has been firm on fixing low ticket prices to make the film viewing affordable to common man.
The film industry people have been doing hectic lobbying through ministers and MLAs to convince Jagan to increase the ticket prices so as to bring the distributors and exhibitors out of red.
The industry people had high hopes on the ministers who were expected to take up the issue at the recent cabinet meeting, but with Jagan in a highly agitated mood, they could not dare raise the subject. Even the advisors of the chief minister were of no use to settle the issue.
Finally, there is some positive news for the industry that gave a ray of hope to the Tollywood. It is learnt some top people in the film industry are likely to get the chief minister’s appointment next week.
According to sources, there is a message from chief minister’s office to the industry that a small team of film personalities, including a couple of heroes, directors and producers could meet Jagan next week.
Now the question is who should be there in the team that meets the team. In the past, too, when there was a message from the CMO, only a few people like Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi, Rajamouli, Suresh Babu and others went to meet Jagan. It led to the criticism that they did not consult anybody before meeting the chief ministers.
This time, who will be there in the team? Who are the two heroes in the team – Chiranjeevi and Nagarjua again? Or will it be Balakrishna and Mohan Babu?
Among the directors, Rajamouli might not be there this time and Koratala Siva’s name is being heard. Another director Mahi Raghava might also be there.
Whoever they may be in the team; if they get the chief minister’s appointment next week, one can definitely expect a solution to the long-pending tickets’ issue.
