Megastar Chiranjeevi has long been planning to set up a film studio. In the past, he intended to set up a film studio near Kokapet in Hyderabad and also persuaded late YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
With the sudden demise of YSR, the studio file went into cold storage and after the state bifurcation, he dropped the idea.
The latest buzz in Tollywood circles is that he has now revived his dream of setting up a studio. However, he has set eyes in Vizag.
Given his close relations with AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chiranjeevi would get permission and land easily.
Vizag is not only going to be the administrative capital city of Andhra Pradesh, but it will also be made into a permanent executive and legislative capital. So, the city needs fresh investment from industrialists.
It practically not possible to move the Telugu film industry to Vizag but a good infrastructure for the movie industry will be developed.
At present, Ramanaidu Studios is the only movie studio that is in operation in Vizag. But film shootings are progressing in Vishakapatnam on large scale.
Chiranjeevi’s idea of setting up a studio makes sense. However, it remains to be seen whether the government would allocate lands.
