The daughter of veteran composer Ilayaraja, Bhavatharini, a national award-winning singer and musician, passed away on Thursday due to illness, as confirmed by film industry sources.
Reportedly in her late 40s, Bhavatharini succumbed to her illness in Sri Lanka, where she was undergoing treatment.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, also Puducherry Lt Governor, along with various others, expressed their condolences on her demise.
Stalin, in a condolence message, highlighted Bhavatharini's National Award-winning contribution to the film 'Bharathy,' a biopic on national poet Subramanya Bharathy. He acknowledged the significant void her loss leaves behind.
Soundararajan praised Bhavatharini for earning a special place in the hearts of the audience with her mellifluous voice, extending sympathies and condolences to the family of the deceased.
Actor Simran expressed shock and sadness, offering heartfelt condolences and prayers to Ilayaraja and Yuvan's family during this difficult time.
Bhavatharini's brothers, musicians Yuvan Shankar Raja and Karthik Raja, are also part of the music industry. She has left behind a legacy of hits, including her contributions to her father's musical endeavors.
