The box office scenario for Nandamuri Balakrishna's film Bhagavanth Kesari appears to be repeating a pattern seen with his previous film, Veera Simha Reddy, released in January.
Similar to Veera Simha Reddy's fate, Bhagavanth Kesari faced a significant decline in business after the release of Tiger Nageswara Rao, echoing the past situation where Waltair Veerayya impacted Veera Simha Reddy's performance.
In January, the box office saw the release of several big films, including Tollywood's Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya, as well as Kollywood's Varisu and Thunivu.
Balayya’s film had a strong start at the Indian box office but experienced a substantial drop in business following the arrival of Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja's film the next day.
A similar situation is unfolding now, although this time Ravi Teja’s film did not open with impressive numbers.
Despite good pre-release buzz, Tiger Nageswara Rao recorded an average start at the Indian box office, earning just 9 crores on its first day. The film received poor to average reviews from critics and audiences, making it challenging to sustain on weekdays.
Bhagavanth Kesari, on the other hand, earned 17 crores on its opening day (Thursday) and faced a reduction in screen count due to Tiger Nageswara Rao's release, coupled with the impact of a regular working day. As a result, Bhagavanth Kesari experienced a drop of over 50% on day 2, earning 7 crores on Friday.
Bhagavanth Kesari is expected to garner better numbers during the long Dusshera holidays, plus it has opened to mixed reviews from fans and critics.
