Nothing comes out as long as there is no friction between two groups. All these days no one focussed on MAA activities as everything has been running smoothly. But now with the political heat within the organization, certain scams are seeing the light.
Some are calling it a scam while many are naming it sheer irresponsibility and negligence.
Here is the story.
When Nagababu Konidela was the President of MAA, he bought a flat for the association. That was not in the prime area but beside a drainage and the property was in dispute. The amount spent on this was Rs 45 lakhs. Above that the MAA, at that time, spent Rs 50 lakh for interior works. Nobody used that flat and finally it ended up in pests.
When Shivaji Raja took over as the MAA President eventually, he tried to sell out that flat as that was a dead investment. Due to the pressures from some people in the MAA, he sold out at Rs 34 lakhs to a person who used to print diaries to MAA every year against an invoice of Rs 8 lakhs.
The bottom line is MAA lost Rs 60 lakh on this flat (including RS 45 lakh to buy+ Rs 50 lakh for makeover- Rs 34 lakh recovery on resale) sale and resale. Another shocking thing is the registration costs for the resale were also borne by the MAA.
Another hidden scam is the person who has been printing diaries was kept aside and a new service provider was hired recently at Rs 4 lakh per annum. That way MAA saved Rs 4 lakh per month. So, why was Rs 4 lakh spent more every year on MAA diaries in the previous years?
No one knows how many more disgraceful things that blur the image of MAA would come out in the next two months before the elections.
