Audience Think Beyond Filmmakers' Vision: Upendra

Audience Think Beyond Filmmakers' Vision: Upendra

In an era where storytelling often follows well-established formulas, one filmmaker is dedicated to breaking new ground with his innovative approach is Upendra.

His futuristic venture UI The Movie has kept audiences guessing about its plot, the nature of his character, and the reason behind its title. "You will get clarity on the title after the film’s release," he shared in an exclusive interview with us, adding, "We wanted to give the audience space to discuss it and keep them curious."

Upendra’s ideas are always ahead of their time. However, the actor and filmmaker believes that audiences are not just ordinary people, they can grasp even the most complex concepts. "The audience are extraordinary, thinking beyond the filmmaker’s vision," he explained. "But I ensure that all the commercial ingredients are incorporated into the movie."

He further revealed that the film’s screenplay has multiple layers. "We wanted to tell the story in a metaphorical way, with a philosophical layer as well," he said.

Upendra credited Kamal Haasan’s Pushpaka Vimanam as the first true Pan-India film. "Pan India is not a new term; it has existed for ages," he remarked. Regarding UI The Movie, he noted that producer Naveen’s vision to release the film in multiple languages stemmed from the belief that the story has universal appeal.
