The summer movie season kicked off with the release of the Dasara movie and is now set to hit its peak this month, with a new and exciting film hitting the theaters each week.
While it remains to be seen how successful these films will be after their release, they have all generated significant buzz in anticipation of their premiere.
The highly anticipated Ravanasura movie, starring Ravi Teja as the lead, will be the first to hit the theaters in April. Following the success of Waltair Veeraya and Dhamaka, all eyes are on this film, especially given the positive response to its newly released trailer. The movie features five heroines, including Sushant in a key role and is directed by Sudhir Varma.
Along with Ravanasura, in the same week, 'Meter' and 'August 16, 1947' are set to be released. There are no big expectations for Kiran Abbavaram's 'Meter', but with Mythri Movies releasing the film, it's able to pull attention. With the backing of famous director Murugadoss, 'August 16, 1947' is also generating significant interest.
The second week will see the release of Shakunthalam, based on Kalidasa's Abhigyan Shakunthalam. Samantha will star as Shakunthalam, while Dev Mohan will play Dushyanth. This big-budget film, directed by Gunasekhar and backed by Dil Raju, is expected to perform well due to its epic storyline. Also, Lawrence's Rudrudu is set to be released on the same day.
In the third week, Sai Tej will star in Virupaksha, with the screenplay provided by Sukumar and directed by Karthik Dandu. There is currently no competition in this slot, although Ahimsa or Bedurulanka may release around the same time.
Finally, the last week of April will see the release of Mani Ratnam's directorial Ponniyan Selvan-2, which has high expectations among Telugu audiences. Additionally, the highly anticipated big-budget movie Agent, starring Akhil and directed by Surender Reddy, is set to be released. Vaishnav Tej's new movie may also release on the same date, although there is currently no update on its status.
It remains to be seen which of these films will perform well at the box office this month.
