In honor of the legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao, the ANR National Awards is presented to recognize outstanding talent in Indian cinema.
This year marks the centenary celebrations of ANR, so it’s very special, and today, Amitabh Bachchan presented ANR Award to Chiranjeevi in a grand event that was attended by many celebs.
Nagarjuna emphasized the values his father stood for- humanity, empowerment, and a deep commitment to cinema.
"The three letters ANR mean the world not just to me, but to my family, friends, and fans," Nagarjuna said, highlighting how ANR's philosophy of diversity and devotion shaped those around him.
He expressed his pride in presenting this year’s award to his close friend, Padma Vibhushan Chiranjeevi. Nagarjuna also acknowledged the presence of another cinematic icon, Amitabh Bachchan, who was instrumental in elevating the award's prestige.
Amitabh Bachchan reflected on ANR's contributions, stating, “It is very difficult for anyone to stand here and match ANR’s contribution to Indian cinema.”
He praised Nagarjuna and the Akkineni family for upholding ANR’s legacy and shared a poignant personal anecdote about a poem his father wrote, highlighting the true essence of inheritance- values and character over material wealth.
Big B's remarks underscored the importance of legacy and the responsibility of the new generation to honor it, especially as he prepared to present the award to his dear friend, Chiranjeevi. He stressed the warmth of their friendship, acknowledging Chiranjeevi’s constant support and the joy of being part of the Telugu film industry.
Receiving the ANR Award, Chiranjeevi expressed immense joy and gratitude, particularly towards Amitabh Bachchan, whom he described as a mentor and source of inspiration.
Chiranjeevi shared heartwarming anecdotes, illustrating their deep bond and the kindness Amitabh Bachchan has consistently shown.
Reflecting on his own journey, Chiranjeevi recounted how the recognition he receives from loved ones feels like the greatest victory. He paid tribute to ANR as a fatherly figure in his life.
He stated that Nagarjuna was a big inspiration for him. “In terms of health, Nagarjuna has been an inspiration. He is not just my friend and brother but also a doctor who shares health tips with me.”
Concluding his speech, Chiranjeevi expressed gratitude for the honor of joining the ranks of past awardees, affirming that this moment will remain a cherished highlight in his cinematic journey.
