Popular Telugu television anchor and actor Are Syamala, who has openly declared herself a die-hard fan of YSR Congress party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has now been recognized for her loyalty.
On Friday, the YSRCP issued an official statement announcing that Jagan had appointed Syamala as one of the four official spokespersons for the party’s state unit, placing her alongside prominent leaders like Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, R.K. Roja, and Jupudi Prabhakar Rao.
Syamala was very active in the media during the last elections, campaigning for the YSRCP in the Pithapuram constituency, where Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan was contesting.
During her campaign, Syamala firmly stated that Pawan Kalyan had done nothing for the people and predicted a heavy defeat for him in Pithapuram.
She even referred to TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan as “Musali Thodelu” (old wolf) and “Gunta Nakka” (cunning fox), respectively.
However, after the YSRCP’s significant defeat in the elections, Syamala faced intense trolling from Jana Sena Party supporters. She defended herself by stating that winning and losing are part of politics but reaffirmed her loyalty to the YSRCP.
Syamala expressed gratitude to YSRCP supporters for standing by her and predicted that the party would make a comeback in the next five years.
She reiterated her right to support a political party of her choice and clarified that her statements were not intended to target anyone personally.
Another notable appointment made by Jagan on Friday was that of former minister and senior MLA Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, who was named a member of the party’s political advisory committee and the party president for Chittoor and Tirupati districts.
Interestingly, many within the party are reportedly unaware of the existence of a political advisory committee for the YSRCP, or who its president and other members are.
