Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 has set the box office on fire, breaking several records and creating hysteria among fans.
However, even Tollywood's Bunny couldn't conquer every milestone, leaving some major benchmarks untouched.
Despite its impressive rampage at the box office, Pushpa 2 has fallen short of surpassing five monumental records set by Prabhas's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which has remained unbeaten for over seven years.
North American Opening Day Record
Pushpa 2 fell short of the biggest opening day collections in North America for an Indian film.
The top spot is still held by Prabhas’s Baahubali 2, which earned $4.6 million on its first day, while Pushpa 2 grossed $4.47 million.
Overseas Opening Record
While Pushpa 2 was a phenomenon in India, its overseas opening didn’t match the scale of Baahubali 2.
Allu Arjun’s sequel grossed $8.2 million overseas, falling short of the $10.25 million record set by Prabhas’s epic.
Non-Tamil Film Opening in Tamil Nadu
In Tamil Nadu, Pushpa 2 missed the highest opening for a non-Tamil film, a title held by Baahubali 2, which opened to ₹17 crore.
Pushpa 2 managed ₹7.7 crore, trailing behind Baahubali 2 and even KGF 2, which earned ₹7.9 crore.
Non-Kannada Film Opening in Karnataka
In Karnataka, Pushpa 2 nearly dethroned Baahubali 2 for the top spot among non-Kannada film openings but fell short.
Baahubali 2 grossed ₹17.45 crore, while Pushpa 2, including its premiere collections, grossed ₹17.25 crore.
Pre-Sales on BookMyShow
Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 made a massive impact on BookMyShow, with over 3 million tickets sold in advance. However, it couldn’t surpass Baahubali 2, which holds the record with 3.3 million tickets sold.
Despite these misses, Pushpa 2 has undeniably etched its place in Indian cinema with groundbreaking achievements.
However, the towering legacy of Baahubali 2 remains intact, continuing to set benchmarks for Indian films across the globe.
