Adivi Sesh’s “Major” is being projected as a Pan-Indian film. Given its subject, the film has the potential to attract all kinds of audiences nationwide even though Sesh is relatively unknown outside the Telugu market. Hence, the makers chose Valentine's week for the film’s release.
But Ravi Teja’s sudden announcement of the release date for “Khiladi” came as a surprise for Adivi Sesh. Ravi Teja is a bigger star in the Telugu market and Adivi Sesh will have a tough time competing with “Khiladi”.
While “Major” can have a major advantage outside Telugu markets, it will have to fight with Ravi Teja’s film, which is an out-and-out masala film.
Will Adivi Sesh postpone his film? The makers cannot change the date now as their target audiences are different.
Ravi Teja’s “Khiladi” doesn’t have hype. The film’s director Ramesh Varma lacks such appeal.
