Actor Avika Gor rose to fame as a child actor with her role as Anandi in the television show "Balika Vadhu."
She has since worked in another highly popular TV show, "Sasural Simar Ka," and has also ventured into the South film industry.
In a recent interview, she expressed her views on nepotism in the South film industry.
Avika made her Telugu film debut with "Uyyala Jampala" in 2013 and further established herself with films like "Lakshmi Raave Maa Intiki," "Cinema Choopistha Mava," "Thanu Nenu," "Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada," and "Raju Gari Gadhi 3," among others.
During the interview, when asked about her opinion on films from Bollywood and the South, she brought up the topic of nepotism.
In an interview with RJ Siddharth Kanan, Avika stated, "When it comes to star power, the South is all about star power. And when it comes to nepotism, the word that we are all tired of hearing... the South is all about nepotism. The things are just the same... it's just that the audiences are not choosing to see it there the way they are seeing it here. A bias has been created for Hindi films, Bollywood films, where we judge whatever they make... this bias has developed over time. As someone who is part of the industry, we also understand that there was a phase where many South films were remade, so people thought we only copy films."
Speaking further about nepotism in the South film industry, Avika added, "In the Telugu industry, nepotism is very evident. I mean, how are people choosing not to see it? I think it has been hyped a lot... and with time, I hope that social media will relax, and this issue will also relax."
Avika Gor is all set to make her Bollywood debut with the horror film "1920 Horrors Of The Heart." Directed by Krishna Bhatt, daughter of Vikram Bhatt, the film is scheduled to release in theaters on June 23.
