Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is determined to bring the mythological epic Mahabharat to the big screen.
Speaking at an event, Khan shared his long-standing dream, though he remains unsure if he will act in the project. Besides this, he aims to create more content for children, filling a gap he feels exists in India’s film industry.
Khan is also committed to nurturing fresh talent through his production ventures.
Highlighting his recent film Laapataa Ladies, which introduced newcomers, he expressed a desire to make his production house a platform for emerging artists.
As he approaches 60, Khan plans to focus on producing diverse stories while continuing to act selectively.
Additionally, Khan emphasized the need for better recognition of writers in Bollywood and the expansion of cinema halls across India.
Reflecting on his son Junaid’s film Loveyapa, Khan admitted to feeling anxious as a father, despite not being involved in the movie’s production.
Interestingly, Mahabharat is also a passion project of filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli, who has been preparing to elevate Indian cinema to global standards with the film.
If both Khan and Rajamouli pursue the project, it remains to be seen who brings it to audiences first.
A potential collaboration between them and Hollywood icons like James Cameron could elevate the film’s international appeal.
