On the occasion of Nandamuri Balakrishna's 50 years in cinema, as well as his social and political life, the Telugu Cinema Chamber and Council are organizing a huge celebration.
Chief Ministers of both states, many celebrities, ministers and actors are expected to attend this event. Since the function was announced, it has become a highly anticipated event for many.
Industry people like Prasanna Kumar and Damodar Prasad have mentioned that the media should also contribute to making this function a grand success.
They referred to "curtain-raiser meet" and another meeting where they discussed how grand the function will be and their plans for organizing it.
They also highlighted the release of content for media coverage whenever celebrities are invited. The media is expected to play a supportive role.
Now, with the event just hours away, no media invitations have been sent out.
When Madhu, who is in charge of PR for the event, was asked about this, he said there were no invitations for media coverage.
However, he mentioned that if they wished, media personnel could attend with their families. When asked about the entry passes, he said they had requested them from Shreya's Srinivas, the event organizer, but had not yet received them.
When the media persons questioned Shreya's Srinivas about this, he said that the event is a closed-door function of their organization.
When asked why the media was called in earlier and given updates, they replied that the media could attend with their families and that the passes are ready. Despite this, the media has yet to receive any information, and it remains completely unclear.
Attempts to contact Council and Chamber leaders Prasanna Kumar and Damodar Prasad were unsuccessful, as they did not answer their phones.
While calling for cooperation and unity, it is unclear why the organizers are now distancing themselves from the media after previously encouraging their involvement. Media personnel are now feeling insulted and upset.
"It is like use and throw phenomenon. Media was never insulted like this in recent times", expressed a senior journalist in a close talk with fellow journalists.
