In recent times, Dil Raju produced “F3” which was the only film that maintained a 50-days gap between the theatrical release and OTT debut. It worked well for the film.
Other makers tried to follow but their movies bombed in the theaters and to recover from the losses they premiered their movies in a quick span.
Now, the makers of “Bimbisara” have announced that their film will not stream on OTT any time soon. They have plans to withhold the film for 50 days.
The film is running in the theaters successfully. So, they have announced these plans. But we have to see whether they would stick to this plan.
One of the proposals being discussed by the producers in the meetings is to enforce a rule of 10 weeks gap between theatrical release and OTT premiere.
But many producers have turned down this proposal. 6 weeks or 8 weeks is enough, they say.
