Hundreds of movies were released in 2023, and some found success. However, there was a noticeable absence of star power this year, with no notable stars gracing the screen.
Mahesh Babu, NTR, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun—many heroes were notably absent. It's an unusual scenario.
Mahesh did not have a release this year. If everything had gone as planned, the movie "Guntur Kaaram" would have hit theaters this year. Unfortunately, the film's shooting was delayed, and Mahesh also suffered a personal loss with the passing of his parents, further contributing to the delay.
After the tremendous success of "RRR," NTR did not have an immediate follow-up release. This year, he dedicated more time to the Oscar awards promotion, and director Koratala also took extra time for the film "Devara," resulting in NTR missing the cinematic spotlight in 2023.
Ram Charan, another star from "RRR," faced a similar situation. Despite agreeing to a film with Shankar, he remained committed to the same project for four years. Shankar's meticulous filmmaking process, combined with Charan working on two films simultaneously, caused delays, and he too had to sit out 2023.
Allu Arjun also had no releases this year. Followed by the pan-India success of "Pushpa," he focused on Part-2, contributing to the delay. The collaborative writing process further prolonged the production, and fans will have to wait until August next year to see Bunny on screen again.
Other heroes like Sharwanand, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, and Rana also missed the limelight this year. Sharwanand began a new project immediately after the success of "Oke Oka Jeevitham" However, he kept that aside and signed for director Sriram Aditya. Even that film was in hibernation for some time. He got married meanwhile. For these reasons, Sharwanand's theatrical presence was absent this year.
Venkatesh, known for avoiding breaks, prepared for "Saindhav" as expected. Unfortunately, with the postponement of "Salaar," "Saindhav" also had to be rescheduled, causing Venky to miss 2023 in terms of film releases.
Nagarjuna, recognizing the need for a break, decided to step back after facing consecutive flops and a declining market value. Aside from "Bigg Boss," he was absent from the movie screen. He is set to come with 'Saami Ranga' in 2024.
While many stars missed 2023, fans can anticipate their return to entertain in the new year.
