Year 2022 proved to be a great season for dubbed films. If we name three hit films of this year, at least one dubbing film strikes the mind. Some dubbed films made a better performance when compared to the straight films.
KGF2 is the first dubbing of the year to be discussed. This is the highest grossing dubbed film in Tollywood so far. The film surpassed many straight films in box office performance. Some films were also postponed to avoid the blow of this film. Without seeing any drop in expectations, KGF2 collected more than that of KGF1.
Many have anticipated the success of KGF2 but Kantara was a surprise winner. The film released with no expectations but shook the box office phenomenally. The film made wonders at the Kannada box office first and then released in Telugu and Hindi to continue the success spree. Rishab Shetty became a national star with this film and the song Varaharoopam has become the classical hit of the year.
Another dubbed film to be discussed in this line is Love Today that was made targeting the youth. The film runs on the lines of smartphones and social media. The treatment was done in the most hilarious way and connected to the young audience to see the success.
Avatar-2 is another dubbed film that rocked this year. The sequel to the 13 year old Avatar made great wonders at the box office. The collections are still steady for the film. Sardar and Vikrant Rona are the films that can be listed as hits of the year among the dubbed films.
Apart from these, there are some flop films among the dubbed ones as well. PS-1, Brahmastra and The Kashmir Files didn't do well in Telugu.
On a whole the dubbed films have shown their might at the Tollywood box office this year. Even the star producers ran behind dubbing films to make their fortune.
