Ranveer Singh found himself at the center of online criticism over the weekend after reports surfaced that 19-year-old Sara Arjun had been cast as his leading lady in his upcoming film with director Aditya Dhar.
Sara, a former child actress, recently portrayed the younger version of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan.
With Ranveer turning 40 next year, the 20-year age gap between the two actors sparked outrage among netizens.
One user remarked, “It’s unsettling to see a 39-year-old romancing a teenager. How did this get the green light?”
However, Ranveer’s fans came to his defense, stating, “He didn’t cast her, so let’s not hold him responsible.”
