Now a days, big stars are returning the remuneration if the big ticket films fail to generate enough revenues. The latest to join the list are ex-lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
Tamasha, in which the former lovers played lovers on screen, won critical acclaim but failed to set the box-office cash registers ringing. The loss to the producers - Sajid Nadiadwala and UTV - is said to be huge.
To compensate the losses, Ranbir reportedly returned Rs 10 crore, while Deepika followed suit with Rs 5 crore.
If sources are to be believed, even director Anurag Kashyap is planning to return the cost of production to Fox Star, which produced Bombay Velvet. Bombay Velvet too was a box-office disaster.
Down South, stars like Rajini, Suriya and several others have returned the remuneration to help the producers, who suffered losses.
