Think Ram Gopal Varma and there is a controversy in tow.
He has now gone and decided to lodge a criminal case against the Regional Censor Board officer Dhanalakshmi at the Nampally High Court.
His grouse is that she had harassed him and his team members while clearing his recently released film Satya 2.
After hearing to both sides of the story, there is no guarantee that Dhanalakshmi would be punished.
But till the time she is free and will continue as the Censor Board officer, it is likely that she might strictly adhere to all rules making life miserable for our Telugu film-makers.
One can only shudder at the very plight of our film-makers. But it has to be said that our makers have a condescending attitude towards sincere Censor Board members.
This could be one of the reasons why Ram Gopal Varma has gone ahead and lodged a complaint against Dhanalakshmi.
If one were to really follow the rules and regulations of the Censor Board, then there is little doubt that any Telugu film will ever be released.
For starters, there should be no excess violence in a film and this is a common element in most films. Similarly, as per rules, a movie cannot show a heroine’s navel region in close up shots.
Now, how many film-makers can refrain from making a film without such shot? And which hero will work in a movie that really follows all rules set by the Censor Board?
Many are surprised that Varma went ahead and lodged a complaint as he no longer makes films in Telugu regularly.
It is being said that there is involvement of biggies like Mohan Babu and a few other big producers behind the move.
Despite venting his ire live on TV channels, Mohan Babu could not do much during the time of Denikaina Ready.
Many feel, so will be the case with Ram Gopal Varma, who visits Hyderabad once in a while.
It is also being said that Dhanalakshmi might become stricter and ensure that the film-makers go by the book.
In the worst case scenario, the government might transfer Dhanalaksmi. But the industry does not stand to gain much by Varma’s move feel many Film Nagar insiders.
