Venkatesh starrer Guru that was supposed to release on Republic Day has been postponed to April. Its four months now since the movie completed shooting. So, why was Guru postponed again?
Industry sources say that the storyline of the movie bears similarities to the recent blockbuster Dangal.
In Guru, Venkatesh plays a boxing coach who moulds a talented but truant teenager into a champion. Dangal has a similar story except that it deals with wrestling.
Releasing so soon after Dangal, the makers of Guru were apprehensive that audiences would find nothing novel in the movie.
Besides, Dangal had done well in Hyderabad and Nizam areas. Hence, the decision to postpone Guru.
