Why can't CID question Pawan, Mahesh?

Why can't CID question Pawan, Mahesh?

The reports that the Crime Investigation Department (CID) is planning to interrogate noted film maker Ram Gopal Varma in connection with the funding of his film “Raktha Charitra” has raised a curious debate in the film circles.

During the interrogation of Bhanu Kiran, the prime accused in the murder of Rayalaseema gangster, it was revealed to the CID that it was Bhanu who had invested money in RGV’s bilingual two-part film through producer C Kalyan. He is also learnt to have admitted that he had funded the films of Singanamala Ramesh.

While the CID has every right to question Ram Gopal Varma in connection with the case, one wonders why the CID has not chosen to interrogate popular actors Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu, whose films Puli and Khaleja were also allegedly funded by Bhanu. Some people may argue that the actors are no way connection with the funding of the film, as they act in the films and get the remuneration. But these days, the heroes are not confined to just remuneration; they also take a cut in the profits made by the producers. So, they will definitely known from where the producers get their money.

Similarly, Bhanu is also learnt to have named Karteek Reddy, son of home minister P Sabitha Reddy, in his dealings. So, the CID should also question Karteek, say some people.

But there is a logic which cannot be denied. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. So, when the dealings were happening, neither C Kalyan nor Singanamala or for that matter Bhanu were convicted. Yes, if you enter into a deal with someone who is convicted, it accounts for a crime. And if that is not the case then there is no reason why CID must not call upon Pawan or Mahesh for enquiry. Come to think of it, all this exercise looks like an eyewash with the CID as the puppet in hands of the big people.
