Despite all the outward bonhomie and camaraderie in the industry, it is a sad truth that caste equations figure prominently in decisions taken behind the scene.
Recently a young director went to a Tollywood big hero and narrated a script to him. The hero hailing from a film family was one of the four stars in the 90’s who is now one of the biggies in the industry.
He was quite impressed with the script but the young director got the shock of his life when he was questioned by the hero as to what caste he belonged to.
Unable to get over the shock and embarrassed, he left the latter’s place with a wry smile. A sad but inevitable way of life in the industry.
