Being a eunuch in ‘Reel’ life too is tough one. Actor Maada has been synonymous to eunuch in Tollywood for decades. He played this role in ‘Chillarakottu Chittamma’ for the first time.
Though many other comedians including Raallapalli and Kota Srinivasa Rao have tried their best in playing a bisexual, no one has so far outwitted Maada. But NTR received accolades in playing ‘Briharnala’, a mythological bisexual role.
Even his son Balayya is so fascinated to reprise that role. Of course, Lawrence too fit in the role of eunuch in a social movie. This ‘eunuch’ image, however, has stood as a stumbling block to Maada. He himself admitted that leisurely. Barring this stereotype, he has seldom got offers for other kinds of roles.
But now he is being honoured and felicitated for playing a eunuch. Maada, being a sensible actor is avoiding such honours and is asking for roles. He believes he can play any role even today. He has resolved to break open the ‘eunuch’ shell in which he has been caged in a large part of his life. Let us wish he will be successful.
