Nani's upcoming film Jersey is hot in trade although the actor's last two films failed at the box office. Jersey directed by Gautam Tinnanuri is a sports drama about a struggling cricketer.
Nani was so impressed with the script that he is doing it in profit sharing basis. Nani's decision to not to charge his market price has given the producers a chance to spend lavishly on it.
Recently, they had shot a cricket match scene in Lal Bahadur Stadium under lights. It cost a fortune to film the scene, our source said.
Meanwhile, the business of Jersey is in full swing as the producers are getting handsome offers from all areas.
Jersey fetched a whopping Rs. 12 crore for digital and satellite rights. It got another Rs. 6 crore for Hindi dubbing rights.
Overseas rights were sold for over Rs. 4 crore and the theatrical rights will fetch anywhere between Rs. 25 cr to Rs. 30 cr in Telugu states. The film is produced by Sitara Entertainments, a sister company of Harika Hassine Creations.
Producers decided to sell the rights of Jersey for reasonable rates to their regular distributors as they lost money on their last two films Agnyathavasi and Aravindha Sametha.
