Director Sukumar earned Rs 17-18 Cr just for encouraging his protege by providing him the hero and doing some promotion for his film.
It is known that Butchi Babu, the aspiring director who worked with Sukumar for the films like Rangasthalam narrated the story of "Uppena" right in the sets of Rangasthalam and got okayed.
Ever since the encouragement of Sukumar, director Butchi Babu made it with all the passion and commitment.
No film can get the success without proper pitching and promotion. The big names from the mega camp have promoted this film with huge accolades and the song "Nee kannu nee samudram..." becoming a massive hit has become an added advantage on a whole.
With Sukumar's blessings and it being the debut of a mega hero, the film has become a huge hit and collected Rs 40 Cr share from the theaters.
The satellite and digital income is another addition. The making cost was Rs 18 Cr. As per the agreement it was a 50:50 deal between Sukumar and the makers. Thus Sukumar got his share of Rs 17-18 Cr with this film.
