While critics have been busy blasting Maruthi on his trademark ‘boothu’ films, the latest to join this bandwagon is his first hero,
Srinivas alias Sri. In his recent interview to TV channels, talking about his upcoming small-ticket film Pustakam Lo Konni Pagilu Missing, Sri has been repeatedly saying that, ‘it is not a boothu film’.
He further added, “Though there is a trend for boothu films, we don't want to make such films. Pustakam Lo Konni Pagilu Missing is a nice and clean youth film that everyone can watch." It was obvious that he was hinting at the number of low-budget flicks that are being released to draw youth to the theatres. Of course, we cannot deny the truth in Sri’s allegations, but the big question is why the sudden attack on Maruthi?
Sri debuted with Ee Rojullo, which was a typical Maruthi-brand adult comedy. It is a fact that Maruti helped him gain a foothold in the industry.
As per tinsel grapevine, Sri and Maruthi had a spat following which both are not on talking terms. There is news that Maruthi wanted Sri to be his protégé, but the later refused to do so.
