Sreenu Vaitla Becomes ‘Mc Dowell’s Murty’ In Real Life
Sreenu Vaitla, the star director is known for running his movies with interesting characters like Mc Dowell’s Murthy (Brahmananadam) and Janaki (Sunil) in the films like ‘Ready’ those become fools in the hands of heroes. In real life, Vaitla has become a fool of sort, says the industry sources.

Just before directing the movie ‘Namo Venkatesa’ he quoted a remuneration of Rs 5 cr, however, the producer Suresh Babu shunned his ways and assured him of a better way of income through shares in profits. As Suresh was very confident about the commercial success of the film, he did few calculations and showed that Vaitla could get Rs 8 crores. Vaitla was on cloud nine and agreed immediately.

The film released and did business. But not up to the pre-shoot expectations. However, when Vaitla went to collect his share, the sky came down falling when he was given only Rs 1 cr. Apparently, the producer said that this is the best share you can get due to its average performance.

At the outset, it might look like the producer has taken the director for a ride but in reality, it is these exorbitant remunerations that has hit the industry badly. On the other hand, the film genuinely did average business so obviously the calculations were based on the ratio of a successful film which was not the case here. While directors’ community has criticized the producer for this, the more sensible lot say that this is a proper business move and nothing is wrong with it. If the directors and heroes take a minimum remuneration and expect rest in the form of shares, things settle down in Tollywood. If the movie becomes big success, every body will be showered with extra income!! When it flops, although the producer will be injured and the impact will be lesser. And director, hero and everyone will work towards quick completion of the project as they possess share in the business!
