Pottel Has Whistle-worthy Moments: Ajay

Pottel Has Whistle-worthy Moments: Ajay

It’s been 24 years since Ajay entered the industry, and he will next be seen in a menacing role in the upcoming film Pottel starring Yuva Chandraa Krishna and Ananya Nagalla in lead roles.

The actor in his exclusive interview says it’s rare to find a strong message woven into a commercial narrative. “This film Pottel achieves that balance. When Sahit Mothkuri first shared the story with me, I knew I had a potential jackpot on my hands. However, I also felt the pressure of staying true to such an aggressive character. It was tough for me to utter dialogues in Telangana slang.”

He unveils that the movie highlights Telangana culture. “While many stories focus on the hero triumphing over evil, this one also discusses the concept of Sigam, or divine possession in Telangana rural culture. The narrative is multilayered, addressing various societal issues, and the screenplay is incredibly engaging.”

Elaborating further about the story, Ajay reveals, “Set against the backdrop of the 1980s Patel system, the villain realizes that education could transform his village, threatening his power and control. As the protagonist seeks to bring about change, the villain desperately tries to thwart him. The story is relatable to today’s audience, highlighting the struggles of that era. My character is brutally intense, which is essential for both the role and the film’s impact.”

He says the first 20 minutes of the movie is packed with intense elements. “The storytelling is neither preachy nor overly heavy-handed. It maintains a commercial appeal with whistle worthy moments that will thrill audiences.”

Ajay also spoke about his roles in upcoming films Pushpa 2, Singham Again, etc. Watch the full interview here.
