Nayanthara has reportedly exchanged wedding vows to Tamil filmmaker Vignesh Shivan recently in a hush-hush ceremony.
A source close to the actress from Kerala tells us that except for the families of the bride and the groom, none from the industry know about the wedding.
"The wedding took place in a church in Cochin. It was a low-key event and Nayanthara didn't want anybody, including her close friends, to know about her wedding plan. It was only attended by the immediate family members of the couple, who had recently returned from a holiday in Mauritius," a source told Mirror.
Vignesh's first movie as director was Poda Podi with Simbu in 2012.
Nayanthara had met Vignesh through her close friend and costar Dhanush. Currently, Nayan is shooting for the Vignesh-directed Tamil action-comedy Naanum Rowdydhaan with Vijay Sethupathi.
"Dhanush had known Vignesh through his film Vella Illa Pattathari. Vignesh had played a cameo in it. He's very close to music composer Anirudh Ravichan der, and had written songs for his music. It was through Anirudh that this project was eventually picked up by Dhanush, who convinced Vijay and Nayanthara to be part of the project," the source said.
It was on the sets of this film which went on floors towards the end of last year that Nayan and Vignesh grew fond of each other. In the last few months, reports have emerged that they became very close and started spending a lot of time together off the sets as well.
"A couple of months ago, Nayan had apparently introduced Vignesh to her parents. She had even gifted him a car," the source said.
It's also said that because of Nayan's relationship with Vignesh, the shoot of Naanum Rowdydhaan has been considerably delayed. According to the source, since they started dating, the film's shoot took the backseat. And it's believed that nearly 20 per cent of shooting is still pending, while Vijay Sethupathi, upset with the delay, has moved on to his other projects.
Both Nayan and Vignesh haven't commented yet on rumours with respect to their relationship.
