Ace director Murugadoss who has made some super blockbusters in Tamil and Hindi has made an action film in Hindi with Sonakshi Sinha as the lead.
Akira is a Bollywood remake of Tamil hit Mounaguru, produced by Murugadoss. The director saw potential in the subject and has directed it in Hindi with Sonakshi.
Murugadoss has worked more than one and a half year on Akira, but the film opened to very poor reviews all over.
Although the critics are raving about Sonakshi’s action avatar, almost everyone is pointing out at the flawed screenplay and dated direction of Murugadoss. In spite of no big releases to compete with, Akira opened on a dull note at the ticket windows.
Akira has an ordinary Saturday without much rise in its collections. It would have to do exceptionally well in the coming days to be a safe venture for its investors.
Murugadoss’s failure might be worrying the makers of his next film. Murugadoss is currently making a high budget action thriller with Mahesh Babu. Can the director bounce back after his poor show in Akira?
