No doubt that it is a proud moment for Telugu cinema industry as "Baahubali" has become the first ever Telugu movie to win the National Award in Best Film category.
Yet, within the Telugu film industry, there are negative reactions too. Some commented that "Baahubali" belongs to the category of "Best Popular Movie Providing Wholesome Entertainment" award than being the Best Film.
Great classics like "Sankarabharanam" didn't receive "Swarna Kamalam" (Golden Lotus is given to the best film) though it created huge impact national level at the time of its release. It missed to other great movies from other movie industries. But this time, "Baahubali" had not much competition.
"Although Baahubali adjudged as the Best film, it has not won any other major award in any category except in obvious special effects zone. This tells the whole story," laments a movie pundit.
"Seems like the jury has got bowled over the craft than the art," added a movie director who doesn't want to be named.
On other hand, majority of the movie lovers are happy that finally the movie has ended the drought for Telugu movies as per as national awards concerned. "We should see the larger picture. Not trivial nitpicking," another analyst lambasted the naysayers.
