Celebrities – mostly film stars and cricket players – earn more money through endorsements of various products rather than through acting and playing. But their brand value depends on their success rate and the moment their performance on screen or on field fails to impress the people, they lose their endorsements.
At present, Prince Mahesh Babu is at the top not only in the ranking in the films, but also in the endorsements. He is said to be charging Rs 4 crore for each endorsement. Till last year, Junior NTR’s brand value, too, was in high demand for advertising agencies and he was charging not less than Rs 2 crore for each ad.
However, sources said, Junior NTR is fast losing the demand in the advertisement market. After his film “Sakthi” bombed at the box office and “Oosaravelli” getting below average response from the audience, the hype around him has disappeared and so has his brand value. The corporate houses have started looking the other way, as Jr NTR’s films failed to click.
At present, Jr NTR has only one running advertisement on hand: that of Malabar Gold. On the other hand, Mahesh Babu has at least 10 advertisements under his belt.
So, it has become compulsory for Jr NTR to score a hit with his next venture ‘Dammu’. If it does not become a big hit, then, Jr NTR might even lose the Malabar Gold deal also.
