There was a time when devotional films made good business sense. The audience watched them and they did well at the box office.
But now, the producers are scared to invest in such films.
Raghavendra Rao known for his blockbuster entertainers tasted success with his films like Annamayya and Sriramadasu. He proved that he was capable of doing films totally outside his comfort zone.
However, his film Intinta Annamayya is yet to be released and has been lying in the cans for a very long time.
So, the producers who have seen the film’s producer Yelamanchili Saibaba’s problems don’t want to make any bhakti films with Raghavendra Rao.
Though Raghavendra Rao himself would be game to make mass entertainers once again, he wants to do films in keeping with his age.
Also, JK Bharavi who helps Raghavendra Rao with his scripts has taken to direction.
So, due to dearth of producers and given that he has been busy making poll-related ad films for Chandra Babu Naidu, Raghavendra Rao did not have any productions on hand this year.
But industry news is that he is likely to start a big project later in the year.
