After virtually entering into an undeclared war with the media in the State, Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy is understood to have decided to keep the Telugu film industry at bay, since there is no cooperation from the latter to the Congress government.
Despite providing all sops to the industry and providing a lot of encouragement to the new film makers, the Tollywood seems to be still favouring the Telugu Desam. It was evident from the way Naidu is being invited to every film function these days. The distance between the State government and the Telugu film industry widened after the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the Telugu films held in Hyderabad a few months back. Now, with the entire film industry (of course barring Chiranjeevi group) attending the betrothal function of Lokesh (Naidu's son) and Brahmani (Balakrishna's daughter), it was like rubbing salt on the wounds for YSR.
That the Chief Minister is angry with the Telugu film industry was evident with the State government virtually stopping the Nandi awards function. The awards for 2005 are yet to be given away to the awardees and it is learnt, YSR is not evincing any interest in restoring the awards. Even the prestigious NTR National Award is also gathering dust in the cupboards of Information department!
