There is a tough competition to capture distribution rights for the film “Villain,” the Telugu version of Maniratnam’s supposed to be magnum opus Raavan, starring Aishwarya Rai, Vikram and Priyamani.
Initially, nobody was willing to invest more than Rs 10 crore to buy the rights for Villain because the market for Vikram and Maniratnam was down and they were facing a series of flops. Most of the buyers were even bargaining for less, as the competition was down. After seeing the tremendous hit of the audio CDs and watching the trailers of Villain, some of the buyers had come forward to pay a couple of crores more; to a maximum amount of Rs 12 crore. But, according to latest reports, a buyer hitherto unknown in the film industry, has come forward to buy the rights for Villain by shelling down Rs 14 crore.
Inquiries revealed that the person was a front man of none other than Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who is understood to have set his eyes on the multi-crore film industry, while continuing to take a grip on the Congress party affairs in the state. Well, where there is money, there is Jagan!
