If the talk doing rounds in the media circles has to be believed, dreaded Maoist-turned-gangster Mohammad Nayeemuddin alias Nayeem used to get regular “mamools” from the Telugu film industry and the producers were forced to give a cut in the profits of their films to this gangster.
According to sources, Nayeem had demanded more than Rs 5 crore from the producers of Gabbar Singh, starring Pawan Kalyan.
The film was a blockbuster, registering huge profits. Though it is not known whether the producer had given money to Nayeem or not, but it is now becoming a hot topic in the media circles.
Sources said Nayeem used to blackmail producers to cough up money; especially if the films are a big hit. He even threatened to eliminate them if they don’t pay him his commission. Quite often, he used to take the help of the police to blackmail the producer, say sources.
