It is long time since veteran producer-director-actor Dasari Narayana Rao has delivered a big hit in the Telugu film industry. Yet, he had two big hits in the recent past.
Well, they are not the films made by Dasari. They were, in fact, bought by Dasari. He has virtually hit the jackpot by buying the distribution rights for Allu Arjun-starrer “Julayi” for the entire state and for “Sudigaadu” for the Nizam area. Though there was a divided talk for Julayi in the initial days, the collections picked up unusually later and it turned out to be a big hit in the industry. So were the collections for Sudigaadu, which Dasari had bought for an average price but is now making millions.
So, the talk in the industry is that Dasari has found distribution business more lucrative than making films. Since there are no viewers for his films anyway, he might have thought it would be a better business to buy films and make a quick buck. No wonder if he completely shifts his focus from direction to distribution. That is good idea, but does it save him from facing a CBI inquiry into coal scam?
